DAMA COC Board
The Central Ohio Chapter is governed through a charter and a set of by-laws. These stipulate that a board is set up to govern the organization and assure its growth and success. The DAMA COC Board consists of elected members that are professionals in the field of information management and data resource management. All elected offices are held for one year in duration and are non-compensated.

They come from a wide variety of organizations and backgrounds with a common goal: to further the concepts of data and information management in Central Ohio. Doug Bond - President


Doug Bond has spent over twenty years at the intersection of IT and the insurance industry and currently heads the Information Management practice of Agile Technologies. Prior to that he served as the CIO of Century Insurance Group in Westerville. Doug has focused much of his career on Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence that began during his nine-year tenure at Grange Mutual Casualty Company. He later moved into various consulting roles over eight years that included product manager for a P&C insurance fraud detection solution (data visualization) and heading the insurance practice of Whittmanhart (prior Infinis, Inc.) Doug received his Bachelors of Science in Systems Analysis from Miami University, is a Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Research & Planning and completed the Insurance Executive Development program at the Wharton School. He lives with his wife Kelly, daughter Allie and son Cameron in Lewis Center, Ohio


John Sarsfield - Vice President of Programs


John Sarsfield has been working in various aspects of data management and data quality for the last 13 years at one of the largest providers of transaction, credit and marketing services, serving the retail, petroleum, utility, financial services and hospitality markets. His last position was as a Sr. Data Assets Analyst, ensuring data and process quality for a multi-terabyte marketing database shared by a number of large clients. His educational background is in computer science and engineering, and is currently working towards an MBA. His interests include spending time with his family, woodworking, music, and restoring/renovating their pre-Civil War home.



 
Tony Simpkins - Vice President of Membership


Tony Simpkins manages business intelligence at Grange Insurance where he has worked for the past 13 years. As a specialist in information management, Tony supports Grange's mission by providing sustainable BI and MDM applications. His goal is to convert data into actionable information that adds value to the entire organization.


Eric Juttner - Treasurer


Eric Juttner is the Information Delivery Team Lead in the IS Department at BMW FS. Prior to joining BMW in 2003 he spent 8 years as a DW/BI consultant and project manager at IBM Global Services / Business Consulting Services. His experiences there included leading many large projects in Banking and Finance, K-12 Education, Retail, and State & Local Government. He was also a member of the team that defined the IGS worldwide DW/BI methodology and SDLC. His I/T career and introduction to data management and data warehousing started at Aetna Life in Casualty in the mid-1980's. Originally from Connecticut, Eric moved to Ohio in 1996 and lives in Lewis Center with his wife and 3 children.



 
Patrick Uehlein - Vice President of Sponsorship and Fundraising


Pat Uehlein is the Director of Commercial Services at ICC. As Director of Commercial Services Group, Pat leads a team committed to supporting Commercial Clients through ICC's diverse service offerings. During his career at ICC he's been responsible for merging diverse lines of business, opening and serving ICC's foundational clients, and later spawning ICC's two vertical groups, Government Services and Financial Services. Prior to his time at ICC, Pat worked at Battelle and at NASA. He holds a Bachelor of Science and MBA from The Ohio State University. He resides in Powell with his wife Teri and three boys. He is an avid golfer and spends most of his free time involved with coaching youth sports.


Rav Ravindran - Vice President of Communications


Rav is the Manager of Corporate Analytics for the Century Insurance Group. He has worked in the information technology field for the last 8 years specializing in data warehousing and business intelligence solutions primarily within the insurance industry. Rav has a background in Accounting/Finance and holds a Masters in Business Administration.


Gina Phillips - Vice President of Training and Education


Gina has 30+ years experience in Information Technology, Data Architecture and Database Administration with industry experience with some of the country's largest corporations in: Retail, Utilities, Automotive, Insurance, Workers Compensation, Financial, Retirement, Direct Marketing/Fulfillment, Higher Education, Manufacturing, and E-commerce. Gina is currently a Data Architect in Business Intelligence and Data Management and was previously a director in a BI/DW Consulting Practice with one firm and a senior data architect with another consulting firm, where she developed varied data architectures for 20+ clients that included DW projects of diverse scope - from Departmental Data Marts to Enterprise Data Warehouse Architectures. She introduced the concept of data management to another company, where she created and managed a new Data Services Dept. Gina was a speaker at a DAMA quarterly meeting in which she presented "The Difference Between OLAP and OLTP Data Modeling". Gina is active in numerous Data Management and IT professional organizations, including DAMA-COC where her current focus is providing industry certification opportunities to local data management professionals through ICCP. She is currently a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) and a Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP) at the Mastery Level.


Steve Strohl - Vice President of Online Services


Steve Strohl has been an IT professional for more than 20 years. He has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Sciences from The Ohio State University, and holds numerous IT certifications. Steve has worked in a wide range of industries in the public, private, and government sectors. For the last 10 years, Steve has focused on business intelligence applications and best practices. Currently, he is employed with Information Control Corporation (ICC) and is working on an MDM-CIM (Master Data Management-Customer Information Management) client initiative.








DAMA COC - Board Member Responsibilities
The DAMA COC by-laws define the responsibilities for each board member. The Board is elected annually by the membership. To support the Board and to foster member interaction, several committees are involved with specific activities such as assisting with the web site, assisting with the general meetings, etc.

Board PositionPosition Description / Responsibilities
President The board President ensures compliance of the local chapter with its responsibilities to DAMA International and provides general leadership and direction. The board President also represent the organization at local events and at DAMA International meetings and events. The President creates agenda's for board meetings and helps provide direction for committee(s) to do chapter business.


Vice President of Programs The Vice President of Programs arranges our DAMA COC general membership meetings / programs. This includes finding a building location and speakers. The VP of Programs works to schedule programs that meet membership needs. Once a meeting or program is set up, the VP of Programs creates the meeting agenda with meeting information on an MS Word™ document which is forwarded to the VP or Communications to forward to the membership. Planning the meetings or programs means obtaining input from the members with the help of the Vice President of Communciations. This person also works with other DAMA chapters on presentations or programs. This collaboration will help reduce costs for speakers. A special relationship that the Vice President of Programs will foster is the Southwest Ohio Chapter of DAMA (SWOC of DAMA). This person will work with the Programs Director from the SWOC of DAMA to help forward the relationship started with this chapter.


Vice President of Membership The Vice President of Membership maintains membership lists for the chapter. Generally this is as simple as keeping and updating an existing MS Excel™ Spreadsheet. The VP of Membership along with help from the board signs people into the meetings, and collects any fees for non-members as applicable. These are turned over to the Treasurer. This person supplies the member list to reciprocating chapters, and also supplies this list to DAMA International. The VP of Membership also chairs the Nominating Committee for the chapter elections.


Vice President of Sponsorship and Fundraising The Vice President of Sponsorship and Fundraising lines up quarterly meeting sponsors and annual platinum and gold sponsors. The VP works with the Vice President of Programs to align potential meeting sponsors to meeting topcis, where possible. They brainstorms the feasibility of chapter fundraising events and chairs the event planning committee if/when such events are held.


Treasurer The board Treasurer records all financial transactions and legal matters for the local chapter. The Treasurer collects all appropriate dues and fees. The Treasurer forwards information on dues and fees collected to the appropriate board members, such as the VP of Membership or VP of Programs. This is to confirm 'memberships' or 'sponsorships'. It the responsibility of the other board members to notify the Treasurer in advance of bills due, so that the Treasurer has adequate time to pay these.


Vice President of Communications The Vice President of Communications records and publishes meeting minutes and maintains all local chapter documents. The VP of Communications sends out meeting announcements and general communications to our chapter members and maintains the email distribution list.


Vice President of Training and Education The Vice President of training and education plans and moderates CDMP(Certified Data Management Professional) exams). The VP schedules prep sessions/beta exams when they are offered. They manage the chapter's relationship with ICCP and seek and qualify other educational events/certifications.


Member At Large Members at Large serve on committees as assigned by the board President. They assist in the various projects the board undertakes.


Vice President of Online Services The Vice President of Online Services manages enhancements to the web site such as sponsorship and membership description changes and sets up email accounts for the organization. The VP of Online Services also assists the board with various technology issues and develops solutions.
